GREENING THE COASTLINE

A partnership bewteen Manning Coastcare volunteers, Hallidays Point Landcare volunteers, Greater Taree City Council, and Kolodong and Dingo Creek nurseries is in the process of growing over 10,000 native trees, shrubs and grasses for planting on the Manning Coastline.

Council has provided the nursery materials and a new shade cloth covered igloo. The igloo was put together by a youth Green Corps team under the supervision of Colin Milligan.

Kim Gollan from Dingo Creek Nursery and Landcare volunteers have collected seeds and set up the nursery in the igloo for the propogation of seedlings.

Most of the plants are going to be used to revegetate areas of littoral rainforest on Crowdy headland and to a dune restoration project by Hallidays Point Landcare Group at Diamond Beach.

For further details on Landcare, contact the co-ordinator Alan Pursch on 6559 3365. The AGM will be held on Thursday August 13 at 7.30pm in the meeting room at the Hallidays Point Library. All welcome!
