ORIENTEERING

ORIENTEERING Tuesday 28th October

SO YOU THINK YOU CAN READ A MAP!

Here is an opportunity for you to put your skill to the test.

A “Street Orienteering (or car rally on foot)” event is to be held in the Hallidays Point area on Tuesday 28th Oct between 10 – 12 noon.

You need to bring your reading glasses so you can clearly see the map and a good pair of walking shoes, high heels not recommended. The course will take about one hour to complete assuming you do not get lost! There are no big hills to be climbed.

You will be provided with a coloured map of the area with the course marked on it and a set of questions for each checkpoint that you visit.

The event is a time trial which means that participants/groups will start the course at 5 mins apart. The event will Start and Finish at the Senior Citizen’s Hall. The first participant can start at 10am.

Children’s rainforest walk

Hallidays Point Library provided the venue for an informative chat about the new walking trail through Black Head Flora Reserve on 2 October. After the talk, Alana Parkins took the group of 31 participants, including 17 children, through the reserve, pointing out some fascinating points of interest along the way. Alana made great use of the new walking track brochure, now available at the library, to inform and entertain. It was excellent to see such a high level of interest and enthusiasm for this precious local resource from both children and accompanying adults.

This event was organised by Hallidays Point Landcare Group with the support and cooperation of Hallidays Point Library.
